Hey appliance people! This side by side unit has an automatic ice maker/dispenser. Sometimes water slowly drips out of the dispenser into the little overflow tray, enough that I need to keep a coffee mug there and empty it out once or twice a day. This doesn't happen all the time but I haven't figured out a pattern to it -- I used to think it was only in the winter, but now that is not true any more.

I have not found any leaks inside the unit -- as in, there is no water collecting inside anywhere, and no water coming from behind or beneath the unit. Just the dispenser nozzle or ice dispenser chute (not sure which). Does anyone have an idea of what causes this, and can a dummy like me repair it? :D

I am happy to provide more info or photos if I'm able. I don't know where to start though. An internet search has so far not been productive.

The age of the unit is technically unknown. It was here when I moved into this house about 6 years ago and the refrigerator unit was not brand new at that time.

Did you recently replace your water filter? If so, You may have air still in the lines, Get 10 full glasses of water out from the water dispenser and see if that stops it, if not you'll need new water inlet valves.

When one is bad, its always best to change both, as they work together.

Here's the water inlet valves for your model you can order here:
Frigidaire 218832401 Water Valve

AMAZING. Thanks.

Yes I have recently changed the filter, I do it 2 or 3 times per year. I try to get the air out of the line, but sometimes it seems impossible to get it all out. The water pressure is low which doesn't help (I think that's a problem before the point of the refrigerator, it affects multiple faucets in the house).

Edit: I'm thinking we'd need to call someone out to do this or else I'd need to pick up some equipment I don't own, like an appliance sized dolly etc.
