The refrigerator thermostat is set at the coolest setting but still freezes food, when rotating the control knob a click is heard turning it on and off. I looked for a damper that might be stuck but was unable to locate one. I was also unable to find one in a parts book. Any suggestions ?

Just because it turns off when manually turning the control doesn't mean it turns off automatically. Your refrigerator design is pretty simple, there is no damper. I can't see anything else in your fridge that could be responsible other than the thermostat.

Unfortunately every place I checked is out of them. Hopefully they're just on a slow boat and not discontineud.

Running all the time should also make the freezer extra cold. It might make it difficult to scoop ice cream.

Warmest setting you mean? The coldest or coolest setting would make things too cold.

It has an diffuser which is basically a block of foam air vent. #28 and #29.

Very little info out there for this model#/style refrigerator

thanks for the info. Yes at the warmest setting it says cold on the dial vs coldest . It was purchased at lowes about 1.5 yrs ago. Ill keep checking for a replacement control. thanks again
