Hi

I have an old stand up freezer, model # FFU1764DW4 frost free commercial 20ft - that is not cooling.

Condenser coils are in the walls, the walls do not get warm when the freezer is turned on

The evaporator fans works

The thermostat / internal off switch works, at least the off switch part does there is a solid "click" sound when turned to the off position

Door seals are fine

There is no ice build up the evaporator coils inside the unit

The compress unit at the rear of the freezer heats up and vibrates when the power is on

No obvious signs of leakage etc. from the compressor

Any suggestions on what else i can check to figure out the problem would be very welcome.

Thanks
ewan

If the compressor is running but there is no cooling at all, it has a refrigeration system problem. The only way to actually confirm it would be install refrigerant gauges to check gas pressures.

In most cases refrigeration repairs are not usually cost effective. They required a trained technician and often start at $150 and that is if a leak can be easily found and repaired. If it has been unplugged for months or longer, the internal refrigeration tubing has possibly rusted out and sprung a leak. That is very common and requires installation of an external condenser besides the recharging. $$$+
