Good Afternoon now.:)

An automatic 30 minute defrosting period is initiated after every 12 hours of compressor running time.

Jake
I could swear it is occurring far more often.
At setting three at the supply side when the freezer hits -14 degrees it shuts off. I am assuming that when I see the temp rise to +14 degrees the heat strip is on.
This appears to happen quite a few times during the day.

I have been monitoring my electrical usage. When I installed the new therimister on the evap. My electrical usage appears to have increased 3-4 kWh's a day.
I was monitoring the electric long prior to the thermister failing.

What is the normal swing in temp I should be seeing when the heating element is not on?
I move the freezer to setting 2.
It shuts off at -12 and the temp rises to +6 or so before the compressor kicks back on.

That's about right, sometimes it can get up to 20 degrees just for a very short time in the defrost cycle, depending on if there is a lot of traffic in and out of it on hot summer days, or you just loaded it from the grocery store with frozen food items that came right from the store.

Ok.
But assuming no defrost cycle and the door remaining closed for at least 12 hours.
The above swing is what I see every time. Ergo my thinking that the defrost cycle is continually kicking in.

LOL.
I have been accused of that in the past.
I have been trying to track down a 7 kWh swing in my electrical usage. What I have been trying to figure out is if the heater element is coming on every hour instead of once ever 12 hours. I am going to get a probe and lay it in there just to confirm one way or another.

Could also be an inaccuracy in the digital meter.

Either could probably be the reason.:)

I wouldn't worry about it, as long as its working fine.:)

Oh I know.
I am just trying to trace down an errant electrical drain.
Could be an indication of a coming failure somewhere.
I really should not complain as I have gotten my monthly electric bill down to 68.00 for the moment.
