Finally getting around to fixing something that went kerflooey a couple years ago!

Doesn't matter whether the little slider is on ICE CUBES or CRUSHED ICE, we only get crushed ice in either setting.

Perhaps some part of the teeth/jaws needs to be adjusted?

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Is this the same one were working on in your original thread? If so, lets keep all these posts in your original thread to keep from jumping from thread to thread.:)

Ok,

Then check your ice bucket rod #46 here:

Take all the ice out, and move it up and down, it should move freely, I've seen ice get stuck/jammed in the chopper blades and make that rod stop moving freely.

Here's the ice bucket container assembly for your model, in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer's Number: 241860803

My Frigidaire side-by-side was only making crushed ice and I was reading your blog and it said to make sure that things were loose in there. I did as you said and put it back in and it still just came out crushed ice. Another guy talked about taking the spring out and using a wire in the back there. I was looking at it and tell me if I’m right or wrong but it seems like when it’s in the down position that’s in the crushing mode. So I pulled it out and pushed in the crush button and then put it back in and it worked fine and I did it again the same way and it worked fine. Just wondering if that makes sense.

Hi,

That is correct, when its down its crushed ice, when its up its cubed ice.

For cube ice the dispenser solenoid gets 120 VAC and pulls the control rod on the side of the ice maker auger bucket up. That disengages the crusher blades in the ice auger bucket. For crushed ice the solenoid is not energized and the control rod remains in the down position held by the spring and the crusher blades are engaged. Check the dispenser solenoid is not stuck in the up position and check the spring on the control rod is not broken.
