Can I get a little help with a problem that others have had with the dishwasher waking up periodically and giving a door closed chime and lights. It did it for a few days about a month or two ago, then stopped doing it. It has recently come back. It can be an hour between the events of 8 hours, extremely random. I read that Jake says it's the UI Board. Can Jake take me through the steps in testing, and perhaps resetting the UI Board? Thank you.

My dishwasher is: GE Model # GDF570SGJ0WW

Yes, anytime you get random beeps and/or random lights when the dishwasher is not in use, its ALWAYS the UI Board that is the culprit.

Here's the UI Board(at the top of the dishwasher door) for your model: WD21X31899 When you click the part link you will see a video that gives you the general idea of how to replace it.

There is no way to reset it, you can only replace it and that will fix it.

Hello Jake, what are you wearing? Sorry couldn't resist the State Farm commercial joke, lol. I have just ordered the replacement UI Board. I watched the video and had a question. The tech pulls the dishwasher all the way out and tilts it backwards to remove the kick-plate, and door screws. I have replaced the lower Control Unit before and did not need to pull the dishwasher out and tilt it backwards. Is there any reason you can think of why I could not replace the UI Board by just pulling the dishwasher out enough to access th screws and to remove the door?

LOL, just normal work pants.:)

You don't need to tilt the dishwasher backwards, like in the video, you can just pull the dishwasher out some to replace the UI Board after you remove the door.

Hi Jake, I have the new UI board and I have encountered a problem. The hinges on my door do not have any holes in which the 5/32 allen wrenches can be inserted to hold the hinges steady while you slightly close the door to lift up and remove it. I have called for technical assistance but they sent me a pdf on how to remove the door for my model, but it also shows holes for the allen wrenches. They don't seem to know how to remove the door. Have you encountred this problem? Is there a way to lock the hinges in place to remove the door other than with allen wrenches in holes that are not there? I have attached two pictures of my door. One in the closed position and one slightly open. I also took a picture of the video showing the hole in the hinge (which I don't have)

Hey Jake, never mind. I Googled it and found out I can remove the cables that apply spring tension to the door and the door just lifts right out. New UI board is installed and rather than give a test run, I'll just wait for a normal load to become available and run a cycle. I'll report back after that.

Ok Rudy, sounds good.:)

Hi Jake, just reporting back as promised. The UI Board has gone through three actual cycles, and works fine. I'm assuming the periodic beeping/lights will be gone for good. If not I'll report back, but not expecting to have to do that, lol. Thank you for your invaluable assistance.

Sounds good Rudy, yes that beeping/lights random issue will be gone for good now.

Thanks for the update!
