Hoping to get some help on my dishwasher issues.

Originally the dishwasher would turn on and work as properly when it wanted to. After a week or two of it working whenever it wanted it finally quit working for a few days straight. No lights on the upper controls and not tripping breaker.

Called a repair guy and he diagnosed and said I had to replace the lower control board and possibly the upper control board. He couldn’t get the boards until possibly June so cancelled the work.

I started my online research and pulled the lower board and saw the led constantly blinking fast.

I bought the lower board WD21X25733 and replaced it. Same issue….no lights on upper controls and no operation. Led on new lower board had the same constantly blinking fast.

I bought the upper control WD21X25724 board and it came in today. I replaced it and still no operation, no light on upper control and same led blinking fast on lower board.


Any help would be appreciated!

Something random….I saw a separate blinking green led at the back of the dishwasher, on the bottom. It is towards the back of the machine. Basically behind the water inlet but towards the back. That led blinks slowly and eventually turns itself off. No idea what that is and doesn’t show up in the manuals.

Hi, Those are the correct UI board and machine control board for your model.

The manual says on page 48--->UI Diagnostics
No display or LED's will light(excluding model GDF510).
1. Check for 120 Volts AC entering the main control.
If no volts are found, check the home breaker.
2. Attempt to enter Consumer Error Mode. If LED's light, the CSM is tripped. Consult On the Main Control Board CSM section of this service guide to diagnose and repair.
3. Check the door harness connections.

If you still can't resolve it, You will need to have a authorized GE come out at 1-800-432-2737 to see what's going on. Only authorized GE techs have a diagnostic device that plugs into the machine control board to see the REAL problem.

Bought a multimeter and started probing away. Main power to the lower board ok, power to the door latch ok, door latch has its own little board and seems to work ok, power seems to get to the upper control board but still nothing lights up when I plug it it…..and this is the new upper board.

Not sure what else to do other than call a GE Tech(which I don’t think the wife wants to wait anymore, been almost 3 weeks now) or go buy a new unit.

Is there any correlation from the door latch to the upper control board?

Say the door latch is bad, would it cause the upper control board not to have anything light up on it?

I’m guessing no but just grasping at straws now, lol

I hot swapped the boards and when the old one works the new one doesn’t. I plug in the old one and it works. Weird!. The new one does not.

Well, I put all the original parts all back and put back every single nut and screw back.

Currently running a wash cycle. No idea why it started working again.

Maybe being unplugged for about an hour reset something???? No clue.

Looks like this is not a DIY friendly repair from what I gather.

I had a friend from out of state try and help me out since he repairs some appliances. He sent me a service bulletin on quite a few GE dishwashers that have similar issues. Seems to be a “specialist” repair since you have to upgrade the software in the unit.

@Nomar06 That service bulletin applies to the older GE models, your model is not listed there. You have the newer GE model.

You will likely need to contact GE at 1-800-432-2737 to have GE come out and see what's going on, Authorized GE techs have a diagnostics tool that plugs into the machine control board port and get to the root cause.

Waiting for the parts the GE repair guy ordered.

I ended up returning the ones I bought.

When the GE tech came out he said they would replace the 2 boards(upper and lower) and also do some updates.

Maybe the updates is the issue why we can’t get things fixed on our own?

That could be possible, but usually the new boards come with the new updates already on them.
