Hello,

I have a GE dishwasher, model GDT635HSM0SS, and the age of the dishwasher is approximately 3 years old. The dishwasher has been working perfectly fine up until about a month ago. The dishwasher no longer heats the dishes while washing. I have opened the dishwasher after starting the cycle and the heating element is cool to touch and not hot at all.

I have read a few of the forums on here, but thought that I would post to see if I could get some assistance. My starting point was to remove the heating element and test the continuity using a digital multimeter.

The test came up with the heating element reading 0.14 ohms. Does this mean that everything is okay with my heating element? As a side note, there doesn't appear to have any rust, corrosion, or any areas that appear to be broken. Everything else on the dishwasher appears to be functioning as normal, besides the heating.

Also, the water line that is hooked up to the dishwasher is the hot water line. If the test reading of 0.14 ohms is indicating that the heating element is fine, then what would be my next step to investigate? I've read online that it could potentially be the thermal fuse?

Is there any other indicator that it would be the fuse without testing it with a multimeter? If I do need to test it, any assistance on how to locate the thermal fuse would be helpful. Thank you in advance as I would really like to try and fix this issue myself.

Disconnect power to the dishwasher first!

--->The TCO is located on the right side of the tub, approximately 16 inches from the front of the tub.

The TCO is in a series circuit with the Calrod Heater, if that TCO is bad(open) it will never heat.

TCO=Thermal Cut Off

Here's the TCO for your model: Ac Harness Asm WD21X24940

Its the SILVER METAL part integrated into that wire harness:

If you see a button on the TCO push it to RESET it, then see if it heats like @Ray-P did.
