Yesterday when I went to go start my dishwasher, it beeps 3 times and the start button flashes after hitting start and closing the door. The door latch does seem a bit wobbly and loose. I did a hard reset (disconnected it from the electrical plug longer than 10 minutes) which fixed it once or twice in the past but still same end result -> does not start. I browsed a few threads searching for solutions and did this test ->

"Press and hold "Select Cycle" and "Start" for Five seconds. The first 10 seconds is a door status check. If the door is closed all the LED's will be solid. If the door is open all the LED's will flash. Is any single LED lit after the door status check?"

"While the lock LED is illuminated press and hold the "Select Cycle" for five seconds. Press "Select Cycle" again to selects/increments test. Press "Start" to stop or start the test.

Normal LED: Tests

Blinks once: Drain pump runs about 2 minutes

Blinks twice: Water valve fills the tub about 60 seconds

Blinks three times: Circulation pump changes diverter every 30 seconds max 2 minutes.

Blinks four times: Heater on max 2 minutes

Blinks five times: Detergent solenoid on max 15 seconds"

After cycling through all the blinks, none of the tests started after hitting start and closing the door. I think it might be the door latch but I am not 100% positive. Should I try looking at the LED board at the bottom just to be certain or what? Thanks a bunch.

I'd check the door latch strike to make sure that is not cracked or broken.

Here it is for your model:
WD13X10071 Striker Latch

Video Included in part link.

If the door latch strike is good, you possibly have a door latch switch problem causing this or a machine control board problem, not sensing the door is closed and latched.

If the door strike is good, then CHECK the door latch switch.

You will need a multimeter to ohm test it.

Here's the door latch switch for your model:
WD21X10490 Latch Switch

Follow the directions here:

Door closed: 0 ohms.
Door open: infinite ohms.

Make sure you disconnect power to the dishwasher before ohm testing.

If the door latch strike and switch are both good, then the machine control board is the problem.

Here's the main control board for your model--->WD21X24901 Machine Control.

Yes, this video gives you the general idea of how to replace it:

Hi Jake, thanks for the help. I ordered the latch switch and swapped it and the dishwasher still wasn't working. I don't have a multimeter but I did drop the main control board panel from underneath the dishwasher and looked for the status LED on the board. When I plugged it back in, the status LED wasn't on nor was it blinking at all (STEADY OFF I believe) while the dishwasher was making sounds and blinking from up above on the door controls. 100% it's a bad main control board you think? Safe to order one and give it a try? Hope I can get a refund on the latch switch.

Yes, if the STATUS LED on the machine control board was STEADY OFF, then the new machine control board WILL fix it.:)

Late reply but the main board was the culprit. I swapped it and everything works like new again (so much easier than swapping the door latch). Thank you very much for your help Jake!!

Excellent, glad the new main control board fixed it.(y)

Thanks for the update!
