Just moved into a house with a GE Cafe double oven WiFi range. Neat! Except neither oven will stay on. No error codes or messages show it just shuts off. All top burners work fine, so there's plenty of gas. Both worked fine during inspection. No idea how old yet and cannot locate the data tag (is it on the rear?

Did a reset X2

Used a model number off of the GE site.

Corrected model number

Hi,

Did this come installed in a new house you bought?

Then you will see a link that says: How to find a model number.

Hi Jake,

We just bought the house with it and it appears to be new or nearly so. We are contacting the realtor to see if we can see the purchase info in case it is still under warranty. My wife actually discovered how to get the model info under options, more. It is CGS995SEL1S

Thanks Dave,

Yes, its likely still under warranty, contact GE at 1-800-432-2737 and get you serial number too, GE can confirm it per the serial number.

Hi there - we've just started having the same problem with our Cafe Series, model number CGS986SEL1SS

It's definitely not under warranty, so was thinking of calling out a repair service. Same thing - you press one of the cooking buttons (broil, bake, anything), and the process starts, but then just as it has started heating, it randomly shuts off. It's as if some kind of safety measure is being tripped, perhaps with overheating wires, or a gas leak or something? The top burners work great, this is just the oven.

Any ideas?

I have not run across this problem as of yet, so if no one else replies here then you will need to still have GE come out to see what's going on.

I can ask our tech. bigbuck if there are any service bulletins on this problem.

That would be great, thanks Jake! It sounds similar to other issues people have had though, no? The oven or broiler starts to work when switched, but then just stops, and the display returns to the clock.

Thanks bigbuck!

Looks like it has to do with the cooling fan.

Here's that blower motor that's in the service bulletin, in case you or others need it:

GE changed the part number WB26X29060 to part number WB26X32571

Bigbuck, Jake, bingo! I have 11 instances of Error code 350. How do I get into the service test mode to complete my tests?

The oven was repaired today. The Hall Effect sensor on the cooling fan was bad. a fairly common failure according to the tech.
Thanks to all for the help.

Checking in with a great-big-thanks to all for helping me find and fix my own oven problem. Following the service documents you kindly attached above, I checked the error codes and discovered a problem w/ the fan. I peeked down the vent into the fan and discovered a piece of dried angel hair pasta sticking out the fan blades. Removed it w/ a pair of tweezers, and the problem was solved! What a relief! That's got to be in the top 10 of easiest fixes ever.

Thanks so much. You guys are great.

Just a follow up to this oven. On Thanksgiving eve, while baking pies in both ovens the entire control panel went black. The tech had to replace both the control board WB27X29500 and control panel WB56X28191. Thankfully, we have a four year extended warranty 'cause I got a feeling it won't be the last issue.

Yes Dave, keep that extended warranty going on all the GE brands now, because GE has had many problems with this model.
