Hi!

I have a GE GDT695SSJ0SS that stopped working overnight; the control panel at the top works and all buttons are fine, but when starting a cycle and closing the door, it will beep three times and not start — as if the door isn't closed. I did look at the latch and the plastic doesn't seem to be broken, and it does lock into place fine as I open and close the door.

Thanks to seeing all of the posts by @Jake, I did enter Consumer Entry Mode. All lights were blinking the first 10 seconds, even after closing the door (the controls are on top) so it might not be seeing the door as closed? None were solid. After this, no issues/LEDs were lit except the 'locked' one, which seems to be normal looking at the service guide.

I did also drop the control box and look at the board (attached), but even after disconnecting power at the breaker and turning it back on, I absolutely don't see any lights for the Service LED -- none blinking, steady, or anything, just off. All of the lights at the top of the dishwasher (controls) are working fine though, is this possible? Maybe the board needs to be replaced? I even tried to run a cycle and after the three beeps look at it again and there's still no lights/activity down there.

Thanks for any help! Been looking at this for a couple of hours now.

Rob

Yes Rob, If the STATUS LED on the machine control board is STEADY OFF, that indicates the machine control board is bad.

Thanks, Jake! Will order from your link.

Question - does this part just fail randomly, or is there a particular reason? I didn’t see anything that would indicate water damage, and the machine is brand new and slightly under two years old so it’s not too old. I do use it pretty heavily though every day. Just wasn’t sure if there’s something I should be doing to prevent this from happening again or if it was just random.

That's a good question, but I don't know why they fail, but if you do a search in our forum for: WD21X24901 you will see hundreds of these that have failed over that past few years.

The replacement one you order seems to be built much better and holds up much longer.

I don't remember seeing another member here have to replace two of these control boards within 5-10 years of each other.

@Jake I've seen you reply to several of these for model GDT695SSJ0SS and thought I would latch on to this thread rather than create another one.

We have issues with our dishwasher from time to time and, like others, a simple off/on at the circuit breaker does the trick. However, that is no longer working...have power, lights are working, but it beeps three times and does nothing.
I checked the LED status light on the control board and it was blinking ONE TIME every few seconds. Did not see in any other thread what that means, so I tried a few more things:
Select cycle+start then closed door = all LEDs on top control panel came on, eventually went off with only the lock controls light on, so seem to have a good door close.
Then tried the heated cycle+start, but not sure what that did, so did that again to exit that mode, lights came back on as normal, started the dishwasher and now it's working. Not sure why.
Still had the control board dropped and see now that the LED status light is blinking THREE TIMES every few seconds.

So my questions are:
1. What did the ONE blink mean?
2. What do the THREE blinks mean?
3. Any idea what I did above that fixed it?
4. Do I need to go ahead and order a new control board like everyone else? or is it the UI board?

Thanks in advance,
Matthew

Hi Matthew,

1x per 3 seconds Dishwasher in not running a cycle, select a cycle and press Start
3x per 3 seconds Dishwasher is running a cycle

Yes, the problem is your machine control board is intermittently working, then not working.

Let us know how it goes.

Jake,

First thanks for all your help with other GE Profile Owners. I'm also piggy backing on this thread as mine is in the similar vein. Last summer I replaced the main UI control board and now here in January I'm having issues again.

Unfortunately for me, when I drop the main control board and turn on power I'm not seeing any light on the MC. However I do have power up on the UI and when trying to run a wash cycle it does the bo-beep, bo-beep, bo-beep; triple double beep in short succession.

Is the simply a failed MC that needs to be replaced? Just looking for confirmation of my suspicion before I order that part.

ADDITONAL Information:
Entered the consumer error mode by holding select and start for 5 seconds. Manual says that the door status is reported for 10 seconds and that if all lights are solid on; door is detected as closed and if all lights flashing door is detected as open. For me the lights were flashing. If the Main control board is faulty would this test work properly and still detect the door correctly or might I be also dealing with a faulty door sensor?

Thanks,

Scott

Yes Scott, when the STATUS LED on the machine control board(underneath the dishwasher) is STEADY OFF that always means the machine control board is the problem, when you have 120 volts going to it.

I assume you have the same model number GDT695SSJ0SS ? If so, then I posted the link to the machine control board in post #2 and post #6.

If the Main control board is faulty would this test work properly and still detect the door correctly or might I be also dealing with a faulty door sensor?
Correct, since you are seeing the STATUS LED on the machine control board STEADY OFF, it will not indicate the door as being closed.

So the new machine control board will fix it all.
