So our 3 year old wall oven is dead. Nothing...no light, clock, etc. Then one day my husband bumped up against it and it started working again, then after a short time it stopped again. My husband tried turning on and off the breaker to reset and it did nothing. He pulled the oven out to look at it (I thought maybe it was a loose plug) but he said it is hardwired with a stiff metal cable and nothing was loose. Then I noticed the next day the the cooktop is now dead (it sits on the counter above the wall oven and they are on the same breaker and I think possibly wired to the same box). We are thinking it is something electrical, but I guess it also could be an issue with the appliance as well. So my question is do we call an electrician or appliance repair service tech? I would like to avoid multiple service calls if possible, but I am not sure how much electrical work an appliance repair tech can do.

Thanks!

Yes, it sounds like a electrical problem. Its best to have a electrician come out. All the appliance tech will do is take a voltage reading at the terminal block of your wall oven and not go any further if he/she does not see 240 volts at the two outer terminal block wires. Middle wire is Neutral.
