My GE fridge water dispenser keeps running water. Unplugging the power cord will not stop running water. The only way to stop it is to take down the filter inside the fridge. What part is broken that I need to order to fix this issue? Thank you for any insights.

Hi,

Its possibly the water inlet valve.

Ok, remove the plastic water line tubing from underneath the BLUE solenoid of your water inlet valve. To disconnect the tube, push the white retainer fitting in while pulling on the tube, then see if water is flowing out of that water inlet valve under that BLUE solenoid while the refrigerator is still unplugged and the water to the refrigerator is ON. If water is coming out of it while the refrigerator is still unplugged, then its bad and that is the culprit.

Just turn the water supply line off to the refrigerator to stop the water flow, if water is coming out of it while the refrigerator is still unplugged, until you get your new one.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model you can order if needed:
