Our dishwasher is turning on and off by itself. And then will completely stop working, UI unresponsive. Have to unplug the unit then replug in, then will start working again.

I opened up to look at the MC and the LED is constantly flashing rapidly. According to another blog that would be a software issue. Looking for advice on what to do next.

I unplugged the UI and no change to the light.

Thanks.

You have the newer square control board which means the machine control board underneath the dishwasher is suppose to blink, that means its working.

The problem sounds like your heating element is bad and tripping the CSM and thus that's why it starts working again after you power cycle it.

To verify that, just remove the 2 wires from the heating element(don't let those wires touch anything) and start the dishwasher and see if it trips the CSM again, if NOT then we found the problem is the heater itself.

Here's the heating element for your model you can order if needed:

It does this when it's not running. Just sitting not being used, it will beep and turn on the UI panel. Eventually we will go to use the dishwasher and it doesn't work at all. That's when we unplug and replug in.

Do you think it's still the heating element?

Ok, I'm clear now!

When the dishwasher is not running and not in use and no one is around it and it beeps and turns on the UI Board by-itself, that always indicates the UI Board is the culprit.

Here's the UI Board for your model you can order: WD21X23462 Kit Svc Ui Top Logic

Here's the instructions to replace the UI Board below. Disconnect power to the dishwasher before you begin.

You will need to remove the whole door, then separate the door, then remove the front control console, to replace the UI Board.

Here's the service manual for your model: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1M-G9W3HiaYnihdB5Cy-jfSPoVf8DZ7j7

NOTE--->When replacing UI control boards, the new UI Board MUST be configured as per the instructions included with the replacement. If the personality is not set by using the 4 jumpers, the buttons, LED’s or cycles will not function properly.

Let us know how it goes.

I thought it was that but wanted a second option before we tore things apart. Wish us luck! Thanks for the advice.
