Hi,
Refrigerator is at 57*F, freezer at 5*F. I inspected the evaporator and it was frozen over and fan did not appear to be working. I spun it by hand and it has been working fine since although it feels a little rough when I rotate the blades. I also noticed that the aluminum drip tray under the evaporator is covered in a layer of ice. I then pulled the compressor cover off the rear of the refrigerator and the rear drip tray was dry and the drip tube going to the evaporator is clogged with ice.
I'm planning to replace the fan but my question is: Would a faulty fan also cause the drip tray to freeze up or could there be something else going on? This will be the second time I've replaced the fan (previously had an issue w/refrigerator getting warm) so I'm wondering if there could be something else going on.
Also worth noting, the evaporator went through a defrost cycle and was warm to the touch so I'm assuming the defrost function is working correctly.
