We have this 5.5 year old GE GFW480SSK0WW front load washer: https://www.geappliances.com/applia...oad-ENERGY-STAR-Washer-with-Steam-GFW480SSKWW
When we try to start any load, it starts to spin a few inches in one direction, starts to spin a few inches in the opposite direction, but then stops.
What's really strange though is that once in a while (maybe 5% of the time) it will start working normally again and will continue working for a bunch of consecutive loads until it starts to have the issue above again.
Unplugging the washer / plugging it back in doesn't fix the issue and I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to when/why it will start working normally again. It seems to be completely random.
I put it into service mode and I see a “fault code hex” of “d3” which indicates a “Hall Sensor Fault: Issue with pulses from hall sensor”.
Does anyone know what could be causing it to start working normally once in a while so we can continue using it while we figure out what to do with it? Does it even make sense to pay to repair a 5.5 year old washing machine that's already known for having poor reliability? It's in a closet with a dryer stacked on top of it so it's not very easy to access.
