I have a GE spacemaker stackable washer and dryer. The dryer ate a metal fastener and in my attempt to locate it (it was causing a grinding sound) I accidentally pulled the drum and bearing out of place. I was able to reinsert the bearing and drum and reassemble the dryer but the hi limit sensor started shutting the entire unit off after running for a few minutes.

I once again took the dryer apart to look for anything I may have knocked out of place and examined the sensors around the heating element. Everything seemed fine so I reassembled the dryer. I ran the dryer without anything in it and it ran fine for about 15 minutes so I added clothes. Now, with clothes in it, the drum stops spinning after 5-10 minutes whole the heating element seems to be running still and it sounds like the cycle is still running minus the dryer drum spinning.

Sounds like the belt came off the motor pulley and idler pulley, thus that's why you hear the motor running alone and it still heating.

Recheck your DRYER DRUM belt installation.

Here's the closest service manual I have to this model: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz...=sharing&resourcekey=0-Tc9SVZETGN2_aJs9zXpSAQ

Here's the parts diagram:
