• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Microwave has lights and turntable working. Periodically, when initially starting (after 1 second), light will go off along with the turntable BUT will still heat. When doing this it will make a different low hum noise. Any ideas what to start with? Thanks

Here's the part you need however you might want to price new microwaves first. Countertop microwaves can be purchased for under $50 and up. Remember after the repair everything else is still going to be 10 years old.

Thanks Rick. That's a good point, unfortunately, this unit has a built-in look above an oven with a trim ring. Replacement micro for this application is approx. $600 and may just have to bite the bullet!
