Hello. I have a GE Profile Induction cooktop (Model PHP9036SJ1SS) that has been installed for about 6 weeks. It was working fine when we installed it. Yesterday, we noticed that the two burners on the right side quit working. We can turn the burner on and set power level, but it turns itself off in 4-6 seconds.

The light for the burner power level comes on, but I don't hear any click or sound I normally hear when the burners in the center and middle side come on (you can hear a buzz normally when the pan is on them). Not sure why they are shutting off before they even begin heating.

Also, for the first time, the fan in the unit ran continuously until the next morning when I reset the breaker in order to turn it off. There had not been anything on the cooktop for over 12 hours and it kept running. I would like to know what part is at fault and instructions on replacing it if possible. Since we waited over a year from purchasing to do the install and kitchen remodel, it is not under warranty unfortunately.

Sounds like the generator board might be the problem but so far I haven't been able to locate the tech sheet or wiring diagram for that model. Too bad it's out of warranty. Everything is expensive on that style.

If you post a copy of your tech sheet and wiring diagram I can confirm the generator board: WB27X27182 Generator Board Asm

Thank you for the reply. I will try to look that up today. Wish I hadn't had it sitting around so long before it was installed....

Here is some information I found!

Did replacing the generator modules/boards resolve the issue? I also waited to long to install the appliances on a remodel and am out of warranty. Have only used the stove a few months and two right burners are doing the exact same thing Kernhills explained. Just in time for the Holidays! Just thought I would check here before going down a rabbit hole trying to fix myself or trying to find a service person relatively close to my small town.

We have had this same problem (right side burners turning off after 3-4 seconds) with our GE CAFE induction cooktop. No local service shops repair induction cooktops. I got a replacement GE induction (PHP 9036) that unfortunately came with a cracked glass top. Taking off the sealed glass top revealed the service information manual inside (!) the sealed unit. To get the failure code one presses the right front burner "on" key for 7 seconds, "1" then appears on the timer unit. The next step is to press the right rear burner "on" key for 7 seconds. No error code showed up but now (after 3 months) the right burners work. Worth a try. Want to buy a working induction cooktop with a corner of the glass cooktop broken off?

Hey Folks, we'll I've got a GE induction that I bought brand new with a small chip out of the top right corner of the glass. It was installed and working fine for 13months. Of course right after the warranty, the right two burners stop working. These engineers are really good at designing things to break right after the warranty period aren't they? Anyhoo, I did what Jhannah said and I came up with an error code 143. How do I find what that means?

Sorry, I don’t see any error codes that match that, they all seem to begin with FA1 through FA8 and others F61 through F70

This has happened to our GE Cafe Induction stovetop three times since we installed Thanksgiving 2018. I got through to a GE helpline after discovering my warranty had just expired (the first time it happened). A very discourteous agent did divulge the "secret" was to turn off the breaker to the stove at the breaker box for 5 minutes. This forces a hard reset of the onboard "computer" she said. She condescendingly explained it was just like rebooting your PC. So far, it has worked every time we get the flashing lights or auto-turnoff of burners. I love this range except for this serious flaw. Every manual should come with these instructions.

I wouldn't expect too much help from GE. They no longer exist. GE appliance was purchased by Haier located in China, in 2016.

My induction cooktop was turning off intermittently. Very annoying. It flared up recently and I started pricing replacements. In desperation I placed a powerful magnet on the cooktop near the "hot surface" lights. It has seemed to correct the issue. Maybe it is chance? Working for now. The magnet stays put
