EDIT: Doesn't look like I can update the title but I managed to mistype the model # there. The model # included in this post is correct. Doh!
A brief bit of backstory here ... my GE refrigerator developed a problem two months ago where the evaporator coils iced over completely, leading to a loss of cooling in the fresh food compartment. The easy part was diagnosing that the fan had stopped working. The hard part was digging through various service bulletins and parts sites and trying to determine which fan part # to order! Ultimately, I settled on WR60X29099 due to GE Service Bulletin REF03-18 and its inclusion of my model number (PWE23KMDEES) and serial number range (mine starts with FF). I installed the new fan and cooling was restored!
Side note: the previous fan (the one that failed) was installed by a GE service tech in Fall 2015. That installation included a software update. I assume that the tech was performing the update outlined by service bulletin REF05-15.
Fast forward to today: the fan is occasionally VERY noisy. The noise (a loud vibration) is coming from directly behind the fresh food compartment where the fresh food fan sits. So, I strongly suspect that the fan is the source of the noise. Before I blindly replaced the fan with the same part, I did some more searching and came upon a recent thread on this forum (here) by someone with a model that is also covered in this 2018 service bulletin if the serial number is in range but that user was directed to purchase WR60X35205 instead. Is there a newer service bulletin that updates the part from WR60X29099 to WR60X35205 instead?
Thank you for your help!
