I have just a basic, older GE electric range. The RF burner won’t shut off, so I just figured the controller was at fault. Ordered a new one and installed it, no change. Swapping burner elements did not change the condition. I’d be most obliged if anyone could lead me to the next diagnostic step. I’ve been working on cars for 40+ years, have done lots of home renovations and have repaired many appliances over the years, so I’m pretty handy, but not an appliance professional. Wiring?

Ok, if you already replaced the burner switch and it still won't shut off, then you have a RIGHT FRONT BURNER wire shorting to your cabinet ground, thus keeping that burner ALWAYS ON, when the range is plugged in. So you will need to check the wires from the burner switch to the burner and you will see a wire touching your cabinet ground.

Here's the burner receptacle, that includes new wiring, for this model:

Sounds good.

Did you find where that burner wire harness was shorted?
