Its possibly a main control board problem then.

Here's the main control board for your model, if needed: Refrigerator Main Control Board WR55X42465

Did you do the voltage test on the main control board for that ice maker fan motor that bigbuck posted?

Main Board
• J8 pin 1 (black) to J8 pin 4 (red): 12.5 VDC
• J8 pin 1 (black) to J4 pin 1 (yellow): 2 to 4 VDC*
• J8 pin 1 (black) to J4 pin 2 (white): 2 to 3 VDC*
*NOTE: (Voltage dependent on fan speed when fan is on, will be 0 VDC when fan is of).
Results on main board voltage test: 0, 7.8, 12.8 (admittedly, think I performed tests correctly, but not a lot of confidence in using multimeter)

Those seem way off.

Make sure you have fresh batteries in the multimeter.

Here's the multimeter to do that ohm test with. Or you can get a multimeter at any hardware store.

Watch this video below, it shows you how to use the multimeter:

I have this same model fridge with similar problems with the ice box compartment warm. No F codes stand out as issues, but it is strange that even though the ice maker is off I can still hear what sounds like gears turning periodically. I also hear a lot more clicking coming from the door board. Any ideas?

I purchased a new ice box fan and it worked temporarily. Turned off the fridge and turned it back on and now it will not work with the new fan. Fan will not run on diagnostic mode either. Checked voltage and getting just over 12V on red/black and getting 4v on black/yellow but not getting any volts on white/black. Thinking it could be the main board as the issue?

Its a main control board problem then if the voltages are not correct.

That’s what I’m thinking. Last night I tried shutting off the power to the fridge and turned it back on then the ice fan ran for about 5 minutes then it quit again. Still sound like a main control board issue?

So today I was messing around with the ice maker itself and took it out and the motor was hot. Even though the ice maker is turned off it still sounds like the motor is turning every so often. Would this motor have anything to do with the ice box fan not working? Hard to believe that both would break at the same time?

That's hard to say without me being there.

IMO, its best to contact GE at 1-800-432-2737 to have a GE tech. come out to see what's going on.

You have multiple issues happening.

Wanted to follow up. After noticing the ice maker motor was hot I unplugged it and the ice box area started getting colder. Bought a new ice maker and installed yesterday and I now have ice!

Thanks @Jstraw for coming back to update us, that's good to know that it was the ice maker itself that was the problem.(y)

Here's the ice maker for PVD28BYNBFS in case others need it too: Small Cube Icemaker WR30X39345
