Hey guys, this is driving me nuts. 3 year old refrigerator with Autofill feature. Autofill initiates every time I use the water or ice dispenser. As soon as I stop dispensing ice or water, the Autofill comes on and even though there is no container in place, Autofill starts dispensing. I have unplugged the appliance for 10 minutes and 20 with no change. Do we really need a new board in a 3 year old appliance?

Run tests 00 00 to check for error codes and 00 16 to reset all boards and exit service mode.

Enter Service mode by pressing the "Water", "Crushed", and "Cubed" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

The display will show 00 in the FZ temperature display and 00 in the FF temperature display.

Press any key other than the temp adjust keys to run test.

Use the FZ temp keys to increment up and down the 10’s place and the FF temp keys to increment the 1’s place.

Run test 00 16 to reset the boards

Thanks, Rick. That button push doesn't work on this model. The cubed and crushed buttons are very close together above the Ice button. I found a GE document that says to push the Freezer, Fridge, and Autofill buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds for demo mode. When I did this, I got a code that looked like "de no". I repeated the button push hoping to exit and that seemed to work. The first few times we tried the dispenser, it did not switch to Autofill by itself but did later on. I repeated the process so we'll see how it goes.

Do you have the tech sheet? Look under the top hinge covers or behind the lower panel.

Thanks again, Rick. No tech sheet located behind any of the panels or hinge covers. Funny thing, though...In reviewing all the paperwork looking for a tech sheet, I found that we bought the extended warranty which ends in two days and that Costco adds an extra 2 years on top of that. I'll be making calls first thing in the morning. I appreciate all your help.

Square trade warranty service was terrific to work with. They had me try a couple of things to no avail. Parts were shipped directly to the house and service guy came out yesterday. Took about 20 minutes and he replaced the dispenser touch panel and the dispenser board. Hard to say which was causing the problem as he replaced them both at the same time. Problem solved. Thanks again for applianceBlog's help!

Wonderful!

Thanks @Riley's Dad for the update! Now we all know what parts to replace when Rick and I go out on service calls for this issue. And for others here to replace as well.

Paying it Forward is always good Karma!
