I am frustrated! The lid lock on my 14 month old washer started working intermittently so washer wasn't spinning during most cycles. I replaced it with the new improved lid lock assembly (including wiring harness) - the old switch was broken. Same issue with new lid lock working intermittently so I thought it was the control panel. Bought replacement control panel WH22X35137 (specified by GE on their website) from local authorized parts house. Installed it; however, I had one extra wiring harness plug and no corresponding slot on board - thought maybe something was no longer being used. The instructions say my washer is personality ID 18 so I set it to that.

Checked error codes and it said the temp sensor was missing - doing a little research, I found that the missing plug slot location was for that sensor. Ran the spin and agitate tests while I was in the test mode and the lid locked perfectly. However, in actual operation, the various machine cycles didn't work properly to completion other than drain/spin. Lid lock worked intermittently. So I take it back apart as I know the control board isn't correct and go back to the parts store who gives me control panel WH22X32357 which matches my old board exactly.

I installed new board and set the ID to 18 per the enclosed instructions. No error codes during test mode; however, I still have same issues with various cycles not working to completion other than drain and spin. And the washing machine seems to be much louder. Is the personality ID 18 really correct? Is there something else wrong? I appreciate any advice.

Hi,

Here is the main control board for your model:

The programming instructions are in post #5 here:

Yes, your personality ID is 18 for your model.

Here's the lid switch assembly for your model:

Also check the lid lock striker to make sure that's not broken either:

Let us know how it goes.

Jake Thank you for your response. A few clarifications:

1. WH22x35137 was the first replacement control board I installed. For what ever reason, it was missing the plug connection for the temp sensor. I exchanged it for WH22X32357 as it had all of the plug connections and was the same model of board I took out.
2. I have programmed both boards for personality code 18 and checked to ensure ID appears on service test 17.
3. The lid switch assembly is not broken - I first installed the new upgraded lid lock/striker/switch/wiring harness to solve my spin issue. The old switch was broken. The new one locks in the service test modes and when I use the drain/spin cycle. Some times it works on the other cycles. I can manipulate the lid lock open and closed from beneath.
4. With the original control board, all cycles worked other than the spin part of the cycle as the lid lock wasn't engaging (you can hear a click but it doesn't lock and light doesn't come on.) There were random times everything worked.
5. With both replacement control boards I tried (setting the personality code 18), the cycles are not working correctly. For example on Casual, the cycle stops before getting to the spin and all lights go off; the lid lock is not engaging, and the end of cycle chime doesn't work. On Drain/Spin, it tends to work fine.

Is the second new control board bad?

That I don't know, but it certainly sounds like it is.

Its best to contact GE to come out at 1-800-432-2737

GE Technicians use laptop diagnostics to diagnose this usual problem, it plugs into the control board ethernet to get to the root of the problem.
