I am working on a washer that is giving error codes 16 and 18 after a cycle. These error codes suggest something is wrong with the drain pump. I have tested the pump by filling the tank with the pressure test and the tank quickly empties when the drain pump comes on, but the pump will continue to run even though it looks like all the water has been evacuated. I have also removed the pump from the tank. I have inspected it, and the outlet hose for any obstructions and found nothing. There was a little water that was still at the bottom of the tub but not more than a cup or two as warned in any maintenance instructions I have found.

Will the pump need to be replaced in order to fix this unit even though I can hear pump and it works enough to almost clear the tank?

Is there any other troubleshooting step I should try to identify the situation

What was the original problem with the washer to begin with?

Its normal for the drain pump to keep running after the drain cycle as it goes into the spin cycle, and during the spin cycle too.

It is not proceeding to the spin cycle in a washing program. The drain pump will remain on and after awhile it will go to what appears to be an idle state. After a few minutes the sound of the pump comes back on and the display will read canceled until the unit is unplugged.

Spin will happen and works well in testing mode.

Thank you for your reply

@Jake The board I got is not starting up right away, it looks like it needs to be configured or may be bad. When I plug it in all lights blink untill I press the start button. Then it displays 6 and when I press the start button it will cycle through the numbers 6, 7, 8, and 13. Did I get a bad part or what might I have to do to configure this board ?
