GE ZISB48DCA GE Monogram not cooling or freezing. It is a 2001 model so new refrigerant.
I had lost the cooling in the refrigerator. The freezer was working as it should and had been for about a week.
I called a repair man. He defrosted something -wife told me, i was not there. He said i should be ok.
two hours later i noticed the freezer was failing and the refrigerator was also not cooling still.

I called him back and now wants to come do a leak down test or something like that, he says i may have a refrigerant leak. He does not seem confident in this. I have called many places, nobody wants to work on this unit.

I hear a ticking sound from what i think is the defrost timer and think i should replace that. Thoughts on this? I dont want to throw money at parts i dont need.

current temps are 48 frige and 34 freezer
Thoughts?
Thanks

Hi,

Another person had this similar issue, this is what I mentioned in post #2 here:

Then look at post #6 of the evaporator coil photos, your should look like the very bottom photo where its says NORMAL FROST PATTERN.

So its best to first check for your freezer evaporator coil before ordering any parts.

I called in a favor from a friend who told me he does not work on ge. I said to him, look they all work the same way, just give me a look over to give me your thoughts. He came out and started to take apart the freezer, he found that the fan had a wire disconnected. I asked my wife if the last repairman was in the freezer, she said he was. That explained the wire disconnected. I want to believe it was not intentional, but who knows.

So the freezer is cooling down at this point and the frige is also. I will need a day to see if all is working as it should. The reason i called the tec the first time was because the refrigerator was not cooling. Thats when he defrosted a door.

So I will wait to see how it works out.

Thanks for the help so far.

Ok, yes that is odd he left the wire off to the freezer evaporator fan motor, yes it was probably a accident.

So I will wait to see how it works out.
Ok, sounds good.
