Whirlpool Duet control panel does not work....probably because I initially mis-wired the plug....

Hi, I have a used Whirlpool Duet dryer I just installed. During installation I had to change to a four prong plug, and accidentally put the neutral (white) leg on one of the outer screws. When I flipped the breaker the control panel lit up, then died. Upon troubleshooting I discovered my screwup. So....what did I kill?

I checked continuity on the thermal fuse, and it's good. Hoping it's not the control panel, but I can't find a wiring diagram for this unit to see the path of electricity to more accurately troubleshoot and I'm hoping to avoid ordering a ton of parts to check and then returning them. Any help someone could offer would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Devin

Hi Devin,

Here's the tech. data sheet for your model: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nu20xwk13qrp5mr/GEW9250PW1%20Tech%20Sheet.pdf?dl=0

Look where it says TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE then below that it says WON'T POWER UP.

1. Supply Connections. See TEST #1, page 3.
2. Check harness connections.
3. Control Electronics and housing. See TEST #5, page 6.

Do those TESTS and let us know what you find.

Here's the user interface(control panel) for your model you can order if needed:

1. Supply Connections. Test passed
2. Check harness connections. All connections passed
3. Control Electronics and housing. No buttons passed the test.

So I would need to replace the Electronic Control panel?

Thanks for the help!

Yup, that's the bad part.

Jake
