Went to use the washer last month and pressing the power button does nothing, completely dead. A little over 3 years old, and have a 3rd party extended warranty. They schedule a tech from a repair company with awful reviews. Tech diagnoses as a defective control board (GE # WH22X35517, but showing on GE parts superseded by WH22X36637). Parts supposedly ordered, that was over 1 month ago and every time I call, same thing, parts are still on order.

Search online shows GE part out of stock until August but other 3rd party companies like Parts Dr show both part numbers in stock (36637 is like $30 cheaper than 35517). I almost feel like just ordering the part and doing it myself as it looks not too diffucult (pull front control panel, remove washer top and board is on the right) but if it was incorrectly diagnosed, I'm out $125 and the time to replace the board.

Do note that we are in a rural area so it's a PITA to get repair people up here so choices are very limited, although I do know that GE services up here

Thoughts?

I agree. And if the tech was inexperienced with the particular machine, it can be an outright guess. That's why my site recommends the manufacturer's own extended warranty over others. They know the product best.

If you want to try to diagnose it yourself, you can find the unit's 'mini manual' (aka 'tech sheet') for your washer # 31-3000219 in this previous forum message:

I'm afraid i have no suggestions.

Yeah, I know now that I should have gotten the GE extended warranties instead but it was a mad rush to get the appliances during a a Covid renovation and didn't think about it at the time...

I did talk to the warranty company a bit ago and they will escalate if they don't get a parts ETA on Monday. Other than they're a bunch of clowns at this repair place (likely why with the horrible reviews), why is it I could have had the replacement part weeks ago from a 3rd party parts place and these guys can't even supply any kind of ETA? Sheesh...
