GI5FSAXVY02 Refrigerator turns off and on constantly with front lights flashing

My Whirlpool ref. keeps turning off and on every couple of seconds. Front display turns off along with compressor. Interior lights stay on. Ref. is cold along with freezer. Ice maker can't fill up because water is being shut off and on along with power fluctuation. Pulled of back lower cover. Some dust but nothing noticeably wrong. Ideas??

I unplugged it for an hour. Plugged it back in now the front display will not come on. If I hit a button all the lights come on until I let it go. If I try to use the water/ice dispenser it beeps. Not cooling at all now. UGGGGG

Hi,

The problem is the main control board in the back of your refrigerator. Seen this happen many times on my service calls.

If you want to verify that to make sure: Check the wires and wire connectors under the top hinge cover. Check if any pins are backing out of the connector. On the main control board measure the voltage at J6-1 and J6-2. If less than +12 Volts DC replace the main control board.

Make sure you unplug the refrigerator before replacing it.

I have the exact same issue as stated originally. The voltages on the main circuit board are correct. What would be the next step

Hi,

Do you have the same model number GI5FSAXVY02? The model number tag is located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

What's the voltage of yours? Your meter should indicate a constant 12 Volts DC.

If the voltage is cycling with the display, replace the main board.

Is the fan kicking on and off with the display? If so, you will need to order and replace the main control board in the back of your machine.

Yes same model number. The fridge was kicking on and off and when it did the front control panel would come on and off. I unplugged the fridge for a few hours plugged it back in and now nothing it does nothing front panel doesn't light up unless you press a button and all the lights light up it makes a alarm sound and reads all 8's on the temp display. The inside lights still work when you open the doors.

I read a different form you have replied in and I had 120v at the one plug cant remember number with pin 4 and 8 and I have the 12volt DC at the one plug like stated on the forum.

Also on the front board I have 12.92 at connector j1 pin 1 and 3 so from what I read. That means the front board is bad correct?

Order the main control board from my link to it in post #3, that's the problem.

Look here: FIXED: GI5SVAXVL01 Whirlpool refrigerator ice/water dispenser panel cycles on and off repeatedly His was doing exactly the same as yours, and the main control board fixed it.
