My dryer is currently melting certain synthetic fabrics (my wife's leggings).

She believes it started not long after I replaced the blower wheel a few months ago.
I can't say whether it happens only with heavy loads, but I know the most recent time it happened, it was a heavy load.
The drum glides don't appear to be worn down. They're 2.3mm thick.
No significant build up of lint.
No obvious places that the clothing could be getting caught.

I will add that in March I rerouted the vent. It is now mounted nearly vertically 8' up. I now know this isn't ideal, but I don't know if it could be related to my recent issues.

WITH NO CLOTHES in the dryer--->Put the cycle on NO HEAT/AIR DRY and let it run awhile see if the drum still gets hot inside.

Ok good.

If the vent is clear and clean you need to take the dryer temperature--->WITH NO CLOTHES in the dryer--->With the dryer on timed dry, high heat, the temperature at the dryer vent should be 160*F to 190*F. Watch the thermometer or multimeter display and note the temperature the element turns off and the temperature it turns back on through about 6-8 cycles. They should be fairly consistent.

My multimeter reads temperature, it comes with a probe you put in the dryer door. WITH NO CLOTHES in the dryer--->Just open the dryer door and insert the probe, then close the door and run the dryer and watch the meter. Don't put the probe to far in or it will be hitting the drum as it turns.

I discovered the drum is not turning with heavy loads. The belt is original, so I've ordered a replacement, which will hopefully resolve the issue. I'll update once it is installed.

That would do it @cjaama glad you found the belt was the problem.

Here's the OEM belt for your model, in case others need it too:

Yes, let us know how it goes.

the drum is now spinning even with a heavy load after replacing the belt. I’m fairly sure this will fix the burning laundry issue.
I’d also like to admit to being stupid and lazy and paying the price. I bought a replacement belt from Amazon when I was doing a repair last fall. It ended up being at least an inch short. Being stupid and lazy again I found a listing that showed “genuine”, this one was an inch long. Finally woke up and ordered the one Jake linked above.
In the picture, the top one is the garbage one I got from Amazon, middle the OEM one that came off my dryer, bottom was the correct one from appliance parts pros. In addition to being the correct size, this one was clearly a better material and will likely last 15 years like the original did. In the second pic you’ll see the obvious difference in packaging. Shouldn’t be hard to tell which one is actually OEM.

Excellent @cjaama glad to hear the new OEM belt from AppliancePartsPros fixed it.(y)

Yes, as I've mentioned for all my lifetime getting the OEM parts for appliances is the only way to properly fix appliances.:)

I always order OEM parts for my local customers at AppliancePartsPros and RepairClinic and they Always have a 365 day warranty on ALL parts.

Thanks for the update!
