So I have an oven/stove model GLP85800 from Whirlpool, when baking it gives a countdown and beeps when it reached temperature, well the past week or two it started to take 30minutes or so to reach desired temperature. For example setting bake to 350° gives a countdown of around 5minutes, which has always been fine, food was thoroughly cooked but now when the countdown ends it is barely at 150°.

I searched online and did some testing, temp sensor works, hidden bake element has continuity, also turned oven to 350° while bake element connections were on my multimeter and reads 233volts. What am I missing?

Disconnect power to your range and check your hidden bake element.

Look here:
Your models uses that same exact hidden back element.

Here it is:

Thanks for the reply, as stated in the original post, the hidden bake element passes the continuity test.

Ok, then if your getting 233 volts to the bake element it should be heating good.

Did you pull the hidden bake element all the way out to check it for PITS or BAD spots on it, it can ohm good, but PITTING of the element can make it not heat properly as well.

I didn’t pull it out, only tested for continuity, since the board is giving 233volts, can we assume the element is bad or on it’s way out? I will try and pull it out when I get a chance.

Yes Kev.

Ok, good. Make sure you disconnect power to the range first before you pull it out.

So I took the element out and nothing stands out but I still bought a replacement but it didn't fix the issue...

That's very strange, it does not make sense, that element should be getting RED HOT if you have 233 volts going to it.

I have no clue why this is happening, you will need to have Whirlpool Canada come out to investigate.

Thanks for the help, I'll retest the temperature sensor to make sure it's within normal resistance, if it is, I believe at around 20 years it's time to replace and buy a new range/oven lol

Temp sensor is at 1075 ohms at room temperature, can you tell me if this oven has a thermal fuse? I couldn't find one, if there's none then it's time to go shopping lol. Thanks again for the help.

ok thanks. Can a temperature sensor be defective even if it tests 1075 ohms at room temperature? If so, can temperature sensor be interchangeable? My model is 150$ CAD while I see sensors for other models for as cheap as 30$ CAD..
