GE side by side fridge periodically making noises near the freezer side. I suspect the evaporator fan motor but would love assistance to help narrow down the problem based on the provided video. Thankfully, it does not seem to be coming from the compressor motor at the bottom. The noise sounds like a farm tractor.

Noise is similar to the one posted on this thread, in the first video. I did monitor my issue and it is not coming from the compressor.

the ice maker was unplugged in the video, I just plugged it back in, and my wife noticed that the noise is a little more quiet than before.

Sounds like the freezer evaporator fan motor is possibly making that noise, like the bearing in it is going bad.

When you click the part link to it below, you will see a video of how to access it.

Here's the freezer evaporator fan motor for your model, if needed:

Update:
Successfully replaced the evap fan motor and fan blade. The fan blade was in bad shape and would not gracefully mount on the shaft of the motor, I suspect that's where the noise came from. Put everything back together on Saturday 4 March around 4pm. The fridge and freezer have not cooled down to the normal temp of 0 and 37 degrees; closest it's got to those temps are 8 and 46. It seems as if the defrost heater comes on and then the temps shoot up to about 18 degrees in the freezer, and about 49-50 in the fridge. Is there a way to adjust it, or is there something else acting up?

Also, the water dispenser isn't working consistently. I suspect the water line may be freezing. It did not work all but yesterday late at night, all of a sudden.

Thanks for the help thus far narrowing down the issues with my fridge.

Also, should the evap fan motor run all the time? I ask because the bottom of the freezer and fridge are cooler than the mid level and top. I suspect that the fan motor isn't running and circulating the cool air properly. I'm going to take it out again to double check.

Excellent, Here's the fan motor blade for your model, in case others need it too:

Pull the refrigerator out from the wall, then unplug it, then remove the motherboard access panel from the back exterior wall of the refrigerator and remove the motherboard and check it for any burnt components on it, let this person found here:

Here's the motherboard for your model, if needed:

OK I pulled the MB access panel and checked the MB, and I do see burnt spots. I'm goign to order a MB.

I appreciate you help thus far.

Yes, I see it.

The new motherboard should fix it.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Jake,

I've Installed the new motherboard about 20 min ago, currently monitoring. So far, my water dispenser still isn't working. Wondering what the culprit could be for that.

It's been about 8 hours since replacing the motherboard. Not really much change. My front display reads 45 and 8 for the fridge and freezer sides. I'll wait until the morning before I start to worry if this works or not. Should I maybe consider replacing my evap fan motor again? Does that burn out due to the MB going bad too?

Is the evaporator fan motor in the freezer still running?

In the long run it will, but not this soon after you replaced the motherboard.

Also, remove the back panel inside the freezer and take a photo of your evaporator coil, I need to see the frost pattern on it.

My fridge and freezer seems cooler but something still doesn't seem right. The front display is currently reading 46 and 12 degrees. I have a fridge thermometer in it to get an accurate reading. The bottom of the freezer was reading 5 degrees F.

Is there something else I should check, I'm almost to the point of giving in and buying a new fridge.

Will do.

Let us know what you find, the freezer should be at 0 degrees if you have it set at 0.

The evaporator fan motor should be running at all times while the compressor is running.

Also check the damper door, it is possibly closed or semi-closed not allowing the cold freezer air to cool the refrigerator section properly.

Here's the damper assembly for your model:

Watch this video to remove the damper assembly to see if the damper door is closed on it, thus not allowing the cold freezer air to cool the refrigerator section properly:

Just took it back apart, the harness plug for the evap motor wasn't pushed in all the way. Funny thing is, I questioned whether or not I did it when i replaced it last weekend, and since it was seeming like it was cooling, i didn't bother to go back and check.

Here's the evap coil.
