Model Number
GSS25JFMDCC
Brand
GE
Age
6-10 years
had evap freezing up
after checking heater and thermostat I determined it was the circuit board issue
I replaced board per instuctions asked me to cut pin 2 of j1 connector if it was a bottom freezer model and if an encoder model with some model prefixes that are not on mine
did not cut wire now appears 2 days later fridge is not cooling and flapper will not stay open to allow air in fridge

should I go back to cut the wire???
I did see this posted on this forums

Refrigerator Main Control Board Replacement and Cutting J1 pin 2.
Questions are often asked about cutting the wire in J1 pin 2 when replacing the main control
board on certain models of refrigerators. There is only one situation that requires the wire to be
cut:
If the refrigerator main board is mounted vertically (as shown below),
AND there are wires in both
pin 1 and pin 2 of J1,
Cut the wire in J1 pin 2.
Note: When cutting the wire, leave enough wire to reconnect if necessary!

There are no other situations that require J1 pin 2 to be cut.

Many main boards look alike, always check the part number in IPC before installing.

VERTICALLY MOUNTED BOARD
which mine is

thanks

Hi,

You read it wrong it says serial number prefixed, not model number prefixed.:)

It says:
STEP 2 - ELIMINATE THERMISTOR WIRE IN PIN 2 of J1 CONNECTOR (see note below) IF NO WIRE IN PIN 2, PROCEED TO STEP 3
NOTE: This step ONLY applicable for the following models:
All BOTTOM FREEZER models
ENCODE models with the following serial number prefixed: TD2, VD2, ZD2, AF2, DF2, FF2, GF2, HF2, LF2, MF2, RF2, SF2

So your model is NOT a bottom freezer model, your model is a side by side.

So if any of those serial number prefixes match your refrigerator serial number then cut the wire.

Here's the motherboard for your model:

yes at the time I did not have serial number SO I NEVER CUT WIRE yes mine was listed as the ones to cut, the issue was the flapper would not open up allowing the cool air to go inside the fridge BECAUSE the wire was not cut
I cut the #2 wire plugged it back in, within 1 minute I opened up fridge and flapper was open, has been working great ever since

thanks
