I am trying to diagnose a refrigerator, whose water dispenser and auger motor run all the time once they are plugged in. I replace the micro switch; however, that did not fix the issue. You can hear the switch click, and the door open when you press the paddle. There is a constant 115v at the water dispenser when the paddle is not pressed. I am now sure if the control board directly powers the solenoid of it it does it through the micro switch. The switch may be just an input that lets the control board know that water is wanted and the control board powers the solenoid. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Sounds like a motherboard problem.

Here's the motherboard pinouts for the dispenser water valve and auger motor:

J7-9 to J7-1 should be 120 volts only when the dispenser switch is activated for the auger motor. Same with J7-9 to J7-3 for the water dispenser.

Here's the motherboard for your model:

Thank you for the prompt response. The motherboard was diagnosed to be bad. Part of it was burned. I just thought that the dispenser valve and the auger motor were powered by the control board and not the motherboard.

Yes, its powered by the motherboard.

Thanks for the update!

I have just done an inspection of the motherboard, and have found out that the connector is burned. I cannot think of any reason for that. If the components were shorted pulling too much amperage, they would not run. The micro switch is good. If the switch is what inputs the call for water or ice to the motherboard, I may have to look for a short to positive after the switch.
