I have a whirlpool side by side. Have had a problem with the water filters for years. ORM filters and knockoffs all the same problem…. If I simply replace the filter the water will not run through the filters. I need to put felt pads on the head of the filter so that when I shut the filter door the water filter gets pressed in extra hard. It works perfectly fine with the extra pressure caused by adding felt pads either to the filter door housing or to the back of the filter itself. Long story short is without the felt pads the filter will not penetrate deeply enough into the filter fridge housing for water to engage and run through the filter. What would cause this and is it an easy fix? Thx

Remove the filter first. Use a hair dryer and blow into the housing for a few minutes. If that doesn't work, replace the housing. Aftermarket filters: Some work, some don't. End of story.
