On the top freezer style fridges- primarily GE brand, over and over I come across the issue of water leaking into the fridge section from the freezer drain pan. It comes in through the air vents.
I have tried sealing around the 3 air vent holes. I have snaked the drain tube. I have replaced the defrost timer and sensor and ensured the heater is working. I have added the wire that hangs from the element into the drain hole. Yet they still do it.
I cannot figure out why this is happening on so many of these fridges. I probably have 4 or 5 just sitting in storage because of it.

Hi,

issue of water leaking into the fridge section from the freezer drain pan. It comes in through the air vents.

So it is freezing up in the freezer between the drip tray under the evaporator and where the water goes through the divider??

Restricted.
Insulation soaked.
Older refrigerator needs warmth help at the tray hole.

Might help...
This here might also help.

Age 1-5 years

If you also post the serial number we can check the age but the parts breakdown design looks to be a lot older than 1-5 years.

Either the pan is freezing because it's not draining properly or it's leaking into the fridge some other way. But because it seems to take a while before it happens after i've defrosted, I would assume it's the former. I'll have to get a better look next time I get a call on it. I've gotten to the point that I don't want to pull all their crap out so I can take the back panel off so I just tell them to empty it because it needs defrosted.
Thanks for the suggestions. I really like that Samsung pan heater but I don't think there is one for GE.

A copy:

SF799770 - Your first serial number is at least 20 years old.
LA791190 - Your second serial number is more 20+ years old.

I've gotten to the point that I don't want to pull all their crap out so I can take the back panel off so I just tell them to empty it because it needs defrosted.

Only option is to get them to move the stuff before you get there.....but I know exactly what you are saying ;)
