Top-load washer is making this banging sound. I had the agitator and drum out to address issues with brown flakes. Reassembled everything (which I've done successfully before) but now I can't figure out what's causing this sound. It doesn't always start right away and sometimes fades in and out. Doesn't happen with the auger out.

Thanks in advance!

Its possibly the transmission(aka Platform Bearing Retainer & Fasteners): Platform Bearing Retainer & Fasteners WH03X33729

Another member had a similar issue here, but his was more of a squeak:

Thank you Jake. I'm pretty confident I didn't damage the transmission. No squeaking. Since the machine ran fine for a while before I dissassembled it again, my first guess is I'm reassembling wrong somehow. Any tips for checking the drum and auger are correct? I was surprised that the washer under the drum (WH02X10364) balances on such a thin lip (blue arrow in image). Is that correct? It's not directional is it?
