Hi Robbie,

What was the problem with your washer to start with?

Your washer was made in July of 2015.

Jake, After turning on machine to wash a load it would agitate for a while then try to go into spin mode and I could hear it try to do this then it would just turn off? with water still in the machine?

Ok, now I see what's going on. The water is not draining before the spin cycle, thus it shuts OFF.

Stay with the washer and after it agitates and see if the drain motor comes ON to drain the water, if not then listen to see if the drain pump is humming like its trying to run, if you hear NO humming then take the electrical connector OFF the drain pump and put your meter leads in the electrical connector and see if you are getting 120 volts on your meter when it should be draining.

I have had a local service call in Salome, Arizona for this same problem, and I removed the drain pump from underneath the washer, then I disassembled the drain pump and found little stones in it jamming up the drain pump motor impeller, I cleaned them all out at the customers sink, and it worked perfect!

Here's the Drain Pump for this model:

Let us know what you find.

*UPDATE* Jake, I ran the washer again twice last night, and once again this AM. The washer does fine in the agitate cycle and drains the water BUT, when it goes to SPIN it shuts off? I look inside and there is no water so drain pump seems to be working, just the SPIN is not working? any suggestions?

UGH.

Thank You for your help on this

These GE washers have many service bulletins on them, I'm posting them below.

Tub Pressure Chamber Port Flash--->https://www.dropbox.com/s/b0502dqsumzi2ja/HL01-17 (3).pdf?dl=0

Clothes Did Not Spin Out, Cycle Did Not Complete or Cycle Did Not Start--->https://www.dropbox.com/s/91ualtlt4h7ub38/HL03-18 (3).pdf?dl=0

No Spin/ Agitate, No Fill, No Drain on GTW220, GTW330, GTW460, GTW485, GTW490, GTW680, GTW685, GTW750, GTW755 HTW200, HTW240, MTW20--->https://www.dropbox.com/s/8z3uaf3aqwxm6f2/TB10-17 (2).pdf?dl=0

If none of those service bulletins fix it, then the problem is the control board.

Here's the control board for your model you can order:
The program instructions does come with it.

Hi Jake,

Well machine is back to its old tricks of the above Q&A. washing but will not spin. (water does get pumped out) Im thinking of ordering a software update for $64. GE GTW490ACJOWW S/N MF171362G do any of the GE update module work? or does it have to be specific to this model?

Thank You!
Robbie
