I have a GE clothes washer GTW680BSJ5WS that has started to continually drip water into the tub, even when not in use. The water supply is from a domestic well and the water is high in mineral content. I disconnected the hoses from the water inlet valve and there was some visible sediment on the cold side screen of the inlet valve. Besides cleaning the sediment out, is there a safe way to clean the inside of the water inlet valve? I have seen anecdotal accounts of CLR calcium, lime, and rust remover being poured into the inlet valve hot & cold connections with apparent success in resolving continual drip issues.

I have the part number for a replacement water inlet valve (WH13X26637) but getting to the current valve in the machine looks like it could be more involved than just removing the backsplash---or is that all that needs removed?

Thanks in advance and any tips are greatly appreciated.

Yes, when water is dripping into the tub when the machine is not in use, that's always the water inlet valve that is bad.

Yes, that is the correct part number for the water inlet valve.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model you can order:

This video shows you how to replace it:

Let us know how it goes.

Jake -- Thank you for the quick reply and the YouTube link. I'll save the CLR for cleaning toilets!

Last question: are there any service bulletins on this machine I should be aware of? Its serial number is VH168363G, which I believe means it was manufactured in November of 2017.

Thank you again!

Yes, it was made in Nov. of 2017.

Yes, look here:
Post #10 is the software update
Post #14 is the service bulletin

But if your washer is NOT exhibiting those problems, then you don't need to update your software.
