GUD24ESSMWW gear drive solenoid fails to engage agitation but does spin

The solenoid that transfers motor spin to the tub engages to spin the tub but not to agitate it. The motor does spin forward/reverse but the solenoid is disengaged so no agitation occurs.

I'm pretty confused by this machine. I'm able to get it into diagnostics mode but not able to confidently interpret any of the codes or run any of the diagnostic tests. It seems that this machine differs enough from the instructions I've found around online that I don't know what to do next. I have replaced the control board to but the problem remains.

Thanks for any advice! I've also, unplugged and attempted "reset" by letting it sit and then lift/closing the lid 6 times after plugging back in.
