My washer won’t agitate or spin.

Back story:: Last week I started a load of laundry and started smelling rubber burning. I went back to check on the machine and there was a loud clicking sound and smoke. Opened the washer panel and found lots of lost socks, etc. The belt was chewed up, so we replaced it. Now the washer won’t agitate or spin. It fills and drains just fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

(I’m unsure how old the unit actually is.)

I double checked it and it is the GUD27ESSM0WW. I read the forum you linked. My lid locks normally, but when it goes into the agitate/spin cycle the machine makes a loud clicking noise, that doesn’t sound like the lid locking/shutting, then the machine stops and the spin light starts blinking.

I haven't worked on this model, and without the proper service manual I'm not able to assist you much, other than guess what part is the culprit. Hopefully a GE tech that works on these "DAY IN and DAY OUT" can shed some light on this.

Take the belt off and see if you can turn the transmission pulley both ways.

Its possibly be a bad mode shifter. Page 61

When checking the transmission pulley I noticed that the front part of the pulley is bent and that’s where the sound is coming from. I’ll attatch some photos so you can see what I’m talking about. Do you think this could be the issue?

That's the motor pulley, not the transmission pulley. The transmission pulley is behind the motor pulley.
