Hey Folks,
RE: GY397LXUB02 Whirlpool slide-in range
Issue: buttons that don't work - bake, numbers, clean, warm, favorites, timer, light
buttons that do work - broil, clock, cook/hold, cancel

I tried a replacement control board WP8507P392-60 and symptoms stayed exactly the same.
I tried a replacement button membrane WPW10207933 and symptoms stayed exactly the same.
I tried a replacement temperature sensor 12001656 and symptoms stayed exactly the same.

What could be the problem?
the high limit switch
the door switch - the light comes on
the door lock

Hi,

The problem is the keypad membrane. The WPW10207933 is not the correct one for your model.

Here's the keypad membrane for your model:

Hey Jake, thanks for your response.

Update: I have a second replacement keypad W10207928 (my first replacement keypad # was a typo).
On my original keypad and first replacement the faulty buttons were the same - bake, all numbers, clean, warm, favorites, timer, light.
That is why I tried the control board next, but to no avail.
So, with this second keypad: bake, clean, 1 and 3 now do not work.

So, it appears that the keypad is the problem, but Amazon keypads are not reliable out of the box.
My subsequent reading argues that membranes are a bit sketchy overall.

Can a membrane be repaired and/or tested prior to installation, is there a more reliable source for replacements?

Yes, don't buy appliance parts from amazon, too many members say the same thing.

Send it back to amazon and get a full refund, then order it from my link above to it in post #2, and you'll be back in business.

Do you see my link to it above in post #2?

Not that I'm aware of.
