FIXED HBL8650UC/10 Bosch double oven display keeps resetting

To access the relay board, pull the unit out from the wall, all but about 6 inches and remove the access panel (3 T20 screws) on the top of the unit.

Here's how I do it:

James, I'd love to see the repair manual. Can you post it here? Thanks!
Hopefully the manual is useful. I'd really appreciate it Joe if you could take a few pics or even video when your repair tech comes on the 28th and what the outcome is. It's rare that you have the exact same model with the exact same symptoms so I'm sure I could learn lots before I call a repair guy up here in Canada.

Thanks, James! I'll let you know what happens on the 28th and take any relevant photos. I took some voltage measurements per the instructions on page 23 of the service manual (7.1 Fault Tree Diagram). I found that the voltage coming in from the Power Supply Module (C) to the Control Module (B) that should be ~9.6 VDC is actually ~17 VDC. I get the same voltage measurement on port X2 on the Control Module (B) between Pin 1 and Pin 3. The other voltage measurements look good (~4.5 VDC and ~5 VDC). I also see the fluctuation in voltage every 2 seconds between the Control Module (B) and the User Interface Module (A) (Pin 1 to Pin 2).

So, it looks like the Power Supply Module may be supplying too much voltage.

That's really interesting and informative. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Hey James, not fixed yet. Sorry, I meant to reply sooner. The repair tech thinks it's the control module, and he ordered a replacement. If that fixes it, he expects the repair to be about $500 with labor. He said that there's a chance that the interface module (with the display and touch buttons) won't work with the new control module, which would make it another $500 ($1,000 total). That's getting steep, so I asked him if there are any new ovens that will stack with the microwave that still works. He was going to research that and get back to me. I'll reply when I have more information.

Wow. Slightly sucks. We bought a new house to close in 18 months. Just trying to keep this place together. Thanks. I’ll wait to see your final outcome.

Quick update: the control module for my repair is backordered until late March, and I haven't heard back about any replacement ovens that would work with the microwave in the stack that's still working.

Thanks a bunch for the update. I wait with baited breath. Lol. Hopefully the control module isn’t crazy expensive. I know it will be almost 50 percent more in Canada.
btw as a strange update I had pressed that button for over a month and it stayed in the same loop as yours. About 10 days ago I walked by and pressed the info button and it came out of the loop and the oven is able to be used. It continues to reset every second day but the screen comes back. Weird.

Another update: I haven't forgotten to post the resolution here, but there hasn't been a resolution yet :( The customer service I've received from Bosch has been absolutely horrible. I have called the technician countless times, and he doesn't return calls. And somehow, Bosch isn't able to contact him directly.

Apparently, the required parts are backordered in Bosch's warehouse, so they gave me information for a couple of parts distributors. But, they can't tell me how I should coordinate the replacement with the technician. The staff at the Bosch 800 number (800-944-2904) are nice enough, but they are unhelpful.

I'm about to give up and purchase a replacement unit. It will not be a Bosch...

Well that’s strange timing Joe. It’s been months and it’s only tomorrow morning that I will have the Bosch tech to check it out. They also told me that the part is back ordered until mid August. I’ll post again after I find out.

One last attempt to fix this unit. I replaced the power supply unit (part # 00663802) and the control module (part # 12022212) and it's still broken in the same way.

Per this thread (and advice from the Bosch tech), I'm going to try to replace the display module (part # 00703850):

Hi Joe. Just letting you know I had mine fixed two weeks back. Swapped display panel. All good so far.

Thanks for the update, James, that's great! And sorry about the long delay in my reply. Replacing the display module (part # 00703850) fixed the problem. It may be necessary to replace both the control module and the display module to fix this problem, because both parts have been superseded by new models. The repair technician who came to my house explained that the units may be incompatible if they're not both replaced with the new models. In any case, if anyone has this problem, I recommend starting by replacing the display module 00703850, and then the control module 12022212.

I registered to say thanks for the solutions posted here. I have a Bosch HBL8650UC/07 that was resetting the clock occasionally, then more frequently and finally the screen just hung in the setup screen. Occasionally, the screen would go blank and reboot and then I would see four small vertical bars in the top left corner of the screen. I ordered part number 00703850 and the item I received was exactly the same as the original. The oven powered up and works perfectly. I had no problem with part compatibility, it was plug and play. Thanks everyone!

Hi folks. I also have a HBL8750UC/09 the same as Joe-R with exactly the same symptoms he described. Oven is no longer functional because of looping between info screen and upper left icon. The part number for the control panel referenced says not compatible.
I have a friend who lives quite a way from me who sent me the repair manual. A couple of quick questions.
1. Joe did you get yours fixed?
2. Does both the oven and microwave have to be slid out together? Being an old boy isn’t fun.
Hello James,
Exactly the same problem here. Any luck fixing yours ?
Thx Victor
