Hotpoint 509RB17 not heating up

Hi, I have a hotpoint #509RB17 that needs some rewiring. My oven doesn't work right, the preheat comes on but any other setting on the oven doesn't work. My brother messed around with it last year and found some wiring that was blown to pieces and rewired that part the best he could, everything is very old, very short, very fragile. What i would like to have done is...i would like my husband to rewire it for me Is there a diagram somewhere and some troubleshooting or just plain old info on the stove somewhere on here? Thanks for any help!

I have a hotpoint #509RB17

The closest model I found a listing for was 500RB17. The '500' part might just refer to its finish, 500 being "White enamel finish".

There is no date on its literature so I have no idea of its age besides being old..

My oven doesn't work right, the preheat comes on but any other setting on the oven doesn't work.

The oven element may consist of multiple heating coils. It may be possible one of the two has burned out or broken. Someone may need to physically inspect it.

If he has not done something similar I'd suggest you just have him (or someone) look into the immediate problem only. If you want to keep the range, I'd suggest you leave rewiring to someone with proper tools and experience to do it properly.
