Hi: I have a Kitchenaid Washing machine , model KAWE877B from 1995. (approx 25 years old).
It's leaking water from underneath the unit.
There is are no apparent leaks externally (hoses, etc).

I need to remove the back/rear panel to see what is going on. How do I do this?
Typically it 6-8 Sheet metal screws, not so here.

Also, I see a black powdered dust on the floor underneath the washer, anyone know why that is occurring?
I suspect the water leak and the black dust are related.

Just need to get the rear/back panel off to check.

Also, any idea where I can obtain a service repair manual for this washer?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks....

Unplug the machine and remove the two screws in the console end caps, (one in each end cap). Pull the console forward and fold back against the wall. Disconnect the lid switch connector. Use a flat blade screwdriver to release the two spring clips holding the cabinet to the back wall. Pull the back of the cabinet up and lift the cabinet off.

That's normal. It's from the coupler. If the machine is washing and spinning the coupler is most likely OK. The leak is probably from the pump where it fits over the motor shaft.

The leak is from the main seal to the tub. I'm scrapping the unit.
The advice on removing the back panel was spot on.
Thanks Rick for all the helpful advice!
