I have a whirlpool side by side bought in 2002. have lived in my house for a year with no problems with it. now i have noticed ice build up in bottom of freezer. will actually keep building up until it reaches the door. I have busted out the ice three times in the last two weeks. Also noticed the small pan in back/bottom is full of ice. Any ideas???

Remove the back wall of the freezer section and the defrost drain hole is directly below the evaporator. Use a hair dryer to defrost the ice and then run very hot water through it to clean it out.
