It's with sad news to announce that our site owner, Jake, has passed away. You can read the details here.

In Memoriam For Jake (Edward John Lucier)

This is such a shock and sad to learn of Jake’s passing on to his service truck in the sky. He had been a great help to me personally and so many others that it's impossible to count them.

Rest well Jake, then fulfill your dreams that now you have time to pay attention to!!

George, Jake picked a good person to assist him.
Thank you for trying to keep this going.
Perhaps on your other message it might be good if you informed everyone of the cost you have incurred.

Cheers
Ken Kloeber

Condolences to Jake's family, friends and everyone on this site who he helped. I was truly bummed to learn of his passing and now it's clear why he never replied to my post as I joined the forum making my initial post only a few days after he passed. As I browsed the forum looking for info pertaining to the problem I was working on, it's clear what a kind and helpful soul he has been.

I remember my first time reading through this forum, I noted how genuinely interested Jake was in helping people, without trying to push any kind of sales agenda. This forum has helped me and my family out of multiple stressful situations. He truly made the world a better place.

Jake, you and your colleagues helped me fix things, and saved a lot of things. You will be missed, but I'm glad that this will continue and will keep helping people.
It reads like a cruel April Fools joke. but it's the wrong time of year.
Hard to imagine. I always counted on Jake and the team for help too.
So young.....

Terrible terrible news. A rarity these days that someone is so selfless and willing to help others. He'll be missed by keen DIY'ers across the world.

Speaks volumes to the man he was.

God Bless Jake.

You'll be missed tremendously.

Wow, just shocked and really saddened to hear about Jake. Every single interaction I had with him for help with a range of appliances over many years was always superb. And while saving myself on repair bills was always nice I came to appreciate the way Jake provided his help free of charge to be so amazing. I'm glad I tipped him but now wish I had tipped more. I'm going to keep an eye out for how I can support this forum to honor Jake.

R.I.P. Jake. I only knew you through this forum but quite a few times we had nice chats trying to solve appliances problems. Condolences to the family.

I am truly shocked and heartbroken. Jake was very helpful in helping me with my parents refrigerator and oven. He was kind and patient.

This is really sad. Condolences to his family. Hopefully the site can stay operational. I know its helped me a lot personally. There's many more out there too.

I was really saddened at the news of Jake's passing. I've been a tech for over 20 years and along the way his sage advice has helped me countless times. In honor of his memory I'll try to pitch in with tech support here, though I realize nobody could possibly attempt to fill his shoes. What a helpful soul he was, a rare gem in this world. An inspiration! May he rest in peace.

RIP Jake! An amazingly generous person with time and know-how. It is touching to see all the posts that Jake answered or dove right in with questions and comments. Truly a loss for all.
