My In-Sink-Erator constantly trips my GFI outlet. The 'blade' is not stuck it turns freely and runs for a second before tripping the GFI.

I know In-Sink-Erator is not GE but the name "In-Sink-Erator" was not available on the provided list; nor was Emerson.

Hi Fred,

Try it on a normal NON-GFI outlet.

Good morning Jake,
I plugged it into a normal outlet and it did work fine. I assume this means that the GFI outlet is bad. Should I replace it with a new GFI outlet or a normal outlet?

It also looks as though the garbage disposal has a “trip switch” on the bottom. Does that do the same thing as the GF I outlet?

Ok Fred,

Appliance Manufacturers recommend always plugging appliances into NORMAL outlets.:)

The trip switch on bottom is for internally shorts or overheats.
