I was just wondering is it bad to leave a window ac in the window during the winter months I know they make ones that heat to so obviously those would be able to stay but what about the regular ones that just cool can the cold and snow damage it or is it alright?

Hi
Don't know of any damage to the a c unit but they are not sealed very well and could cost you a little extra on your heating bill. I caulked around mine really good and put an insulated cover on it ,never removed it and it lasted for a good 25 years.I finally replaced it with a heat pump a few years ago.

Vinyl Windows in Denver

I understand what you mean. I too have an A/C unit that I keep in my window. Since I'm actually in this industry ( http://www.creativeexteriorsco.com ) I understand how the framing and window is designed and know that your window will help keep your house insulated when it is closed. Therefore I would keep your A/C unit out for the winter.
