It appears to me that the Jenn Air and Kitchen Aid refrigerators (20 cu ft) are the same except for skin and label. Hence the potential for repair is the same. Has this been your experience as well? Should we basing our choice based on price (value)? The problem today with replacement, is that many homes were built with counter top refrigerators (24 in) in mind, otherwise other replacement frigs ( 34+) stick well into the middle of the kitchen. Kitchen Aid, Jenn Air, and GE are about the only models in this replacement group. What ever guidance you provide would be helpful. Sorry to test your patience.

Thanks

Understood. My concern is that these lines within Whirlpool are still manufactured the same way before the buy out and are still experiencing significant reliability issues based on recent user reviews. Hence the recent downgrades published in consumer ratings (ie.CR) particularly for models like KitchenAid. I haven't heard of any production upgrades made by Whirlpool to address reliability issues associated with the old Maytag lines let alone the traditional Whirlpool lines. What trends are you seeing as a tech since 2013 in regards to refrig reliability within these or any lines?

Today, it appears that buying an appliance is still like buying a pig in a poke with even less choice. Except for Samsung and LG, it appears that very few, if any, other manufacturer/marketer wants to guarantee their appliance will work without a problem for more then one year.

Best wishes,

Trends:
30 years ago appliances lasted 25+ years.
20 years ago they lasted 20+ YEARS.
10 years ago they lasted 10 years.
Now we get approx 2-8 years out of most appliances.

JMO!
